Our Talent Pool
The pursuit of strong yields has been a perpetual crusade for both advisers and investors in recent years. A Long/Short Credit strategy is one that can satisfy those looking for minimal risk and maximum performance. Difficult to pinhole Long/Short Credit into a single form of investing, this highly uncorrelated strategy generally uses both cash products for long positions, and CDS on single names and indices (CDX) for hedging purposes. H.W. Anderson’s Credit Strategies Executive Search practice is well-placed to deliver across Long/Short Credit with a deep understanding of the market and the nuanced needs of our clients.
Distressed debt and credit is an area of quick growth in the alternative investment arena, having expanded aggressively in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Distressed Debt involved the purchasing of a credit instrument trading at a distressed level, with an eye to offloading that instrument at a higher price. Distressed securities can be traded over a short time horizon, a longer time horizon in circumstances where the investor takes a controlling/non-controlling majority or minority position, or in a restructuring/turnaround capacity.
Event Driven Credit
Event Driven Credit
Outside of Equities, Event-Driven funds have been among the highest-returning hedge fund strategies in recent years. H.W. Anderson’s Credit Strategies Executive Search Practice has experience working with a large candidate pool of investors who operate Event-Driven Credit strategies, covering a broad range of events such as refinancings and deep-value opportunities. At times, this catalyst-led strategy can be coupled with convertible arbitrage or capital structure arbitrage to exploit and maximise these opportunities.
With a healthy level of new issuance in recent years, a Convertible Arbitrage strategy is, yet again, back in the sights of investors. This long/short trading strategy typically involves taking a long position in a convertible security and a short position in the underlying common stock, the goal of which is to capitalize on pricing inefficiencies between the two securities. Our Credit Strategies Executive Search team are well-placed to deliver for clients in this area due the steady turnover of new issuance creating trading opportunities for the talented investment professionals in our network.
Long Only Credit
Long Only Credit
With recent flux in the global financial markets and the ever changing forces affecting the predictability of other asset classes, Long Only credit strategies can provide strong and stable returns that pension fund, insurance, and high net worth (HNW) investors are seeking when looking to protect their capital. H.W. Anderson’s Credit Strategies Executive Search business is centrally located amid investment professionals who have expertise in identifying and building portfolios in investment grade (IG) securities.
Allocating to Structured Credit offers diversification for investors looking to gain exposure away from traditional stocks and bonds. Yields are historically low on IG bonds and, should interest rates rise, capital losses in an IG portfolio could increase. This approach to blending debt obligations and rearranging the corresponding cash flows, changes the risk profile associated with the debt instrument.
ABS pool loans – typically mortgages, credit card loans, student debt, and autos – in a securitization process. Principal payments and the original interest is pooled back to investors, and the risk of default is reduced as each product is only exposed to a specific feature of the original risk. These securities seek to provide uncorrelated exposure and returns to investors looking to diversify their portfolios.
